Show Outstanding Matches Made for Friday Night Smoker Local talent, local battle royals, roy-als, and it is rumored even local grudge fights, will highlight a boxing car being staged by the Elks Lodge No. 1556 of Cedar City this Friday night at the College of Southern Utah fieldhouse. The curtain raiser, one of those old-time free-for-alls, pitting Indians In-dians and whites in the ring, is scheduled to beging at 8 p. m. j Six outstanding bouts of four rounds each have been matched by the Elks Club in what promises prom-ises to be some outstanding battles. bat-tles. First in line will be a duel between Frank Berrett, promising young lad of Cedar City, and Max Webb of St. George fame. It is rumored that the final contest of the night, pitting two Cedar City youths, Herb Corry and Marv Mathews, weighting in at about 150 and 150, respectively, will be more like a street brawl staged for the benefit of the public. It should be a "pip-er-roo." Other matches include Dick Maxwell of St. George against Arthur Tillahash of the Shivwits Indian Reservation; Harry Wall, also of the reservation, against Butch Nelson of Cedar City; La-var La-var Short will tangle in a fast and furious four rounds with Joe Bushhead, a popular boy from the reservation; Max Torres of Cedar City and Dean Cottam of St. George plan to set the stage for the Corry-Mathews brawl. Ringside seats are going at Si f0, general admission will be SI. 10 and those 16 years of age and under will be admitted for 60 cents. Anyone under 12 will be admitted free providing they are accompanied by an adult. These prices all include both federal and fieldhouse taxes. A special feature of the smoker smo-ker will be a professional wrestling wres-tling exhibition by the Brinker-hoff Brinker-hoff twins that should add spice to the evening.
