Sevy, Republican incumbent, in-cumbent, filed Monday for the nomination for re-election to the state legislature from Iron Conn-jty. Conn-jty. Clarence Lamoreaux had previously pre-viously filed tor the nomination, Which means that a primary election elec-tion will be necessary to determine deter-mine the party candidate. Both 'are Cedar City livestock men. j Wm. Hills, Cedar City, who I has been active in law enforce-Iment enforce-Iment circle for some time, both in the county and city, has filed for the nomination for sheriff on . an independent ticket, which it seems will mean that there will be three candidates on the ballot for this office at election time. Arthur Nelson, Republican incumbent, in-cumbent, had previously filed and this week Haldow E. Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Democrat, former Iron County sheriff, filed for his party nomination. Unless opponents file for this office tomorrow, which is doubtful, Nelson, Chris-tensen Chris-tensen and Hills will be the official offi-cial candidates. The Democrats will have one primary contest as a result of the filing Tuesday of Eugene M. Or-ton, Or-ton, Parowan, for the position of county recorder. Florence (Frost-ie) (Frost-ie) Benson, also of Parowan, had previously filed for the nomina tion on the Democratic ticnet. Mr. Orton, who worked as a printer1 in the Iron County Record plant in Cedar City for a number of years, now operates a job printing shop of his own in Parowan, and has worked in numerous city capacities ca-pacities in recent years. Carl Rummler of Parowan. and Theron Ashcrolt of Cedar City, are the other two Democrats who have filed for office. Rummler is seeking the position of county treasurer, now held by Clair Unlet, Un-let, Republican, who is seeking re-election. Mr. Rummler is manager man-ager of the motion picture thea-' thea-' tre in I'arow m. It had been extected that Mr Ashcrolt. a member of the College Col-lege of Southern I'tah staff, would filed for the Democratic nomination for state representative, representa-tive, but instead, he is seeking the office of county commissioner. commission-er. He has long been an active party worker, and has been active ac-tive in civic affairs. It is expected that either Cyril Pendleton or Watson Adams, or both, of Parowan. will file for County clerk, a position held by W. Clair Rowley. Republican, vvho is seeking re-election. Kent Mitchell and Charles Burton, Bur-ton, both of Parowan, have been prominently mentioned as probable prob-able Democratic candidates for the county commission post held by Jess Guymon. Republican.
