Show Whoppers Noticeably Lacking In Big Fish Contest Panguitch Lake seems to be the only producer of fish of any size according to the weigh-ins for the Wildlife Federation's weekly big fish contest, and with the season running comparatively com-paratively slow becuse of hot weather and rains, those catches are far below past year's catches. Chet Cripps won the weekly prize with a one pound eight ounce rainbow from Panguitch and Eddie Bauer took a 14 ounc-er ounc-er from the lake to win the junior jun-ior division. Prizes for the week were awarded by Lunt Motor Company in the senior section, and the Southern Utah Power Company in the junior division. This week's winners of the contest con-test will receive prizes donated by Corner Market and Stevens Company in the senior and junior divisions, respectively. It is reported by federation officials offi-cials that few of the popular, spots are producing catches of any consequence at the present time. Small catches are coming from Panguitch and Navajo; Duck Creek and Mammoth are slow with the fish few and far between, and Enterprise, the big fish producer of last year, is practically dead some fishermen say. However, the season should pickup as we near the end of July and as usual August, particularly par-ticularly the later part, will see a rise in the catches, In number and size. |
