Show Poney League All-stars Make Journey to Price To Try Luck for District Tournament Honors Pony League all stars, who left Wednesday for Price to participate parti-cipate in the district tournament will enter competition this week with a list of pretournament vie-1 tories behind them. I In the final pre tournament 'game Tuesday evening they downed a strong Panguitch team by a score of 7 to 6 in one of the best contests fans of this area have witnessed. Last Saturday Satur-day evening they traveled to Cal-iente, Cal-iente, Nev., to down a team that had previously beaten them by a score of 7 to 5 in five innings. The players seem to be rounding round-ing into shape fairly fast and should be in tip top condition for their ini'ial tournament play today to-day at Price. Under the direction of Cleo Petty Pet-ty as manager, and Ad Anderson and Lindy Neilson as coaches the group may possibly surprise a number of the northern teams in this district affair. A number of the local boys have had tournament tour-nament experience, playing last year in the Little Leagle district tournament at Helper. The experience exper-ience may pay off at Price. It is expected that the pitching chores will be pretty well divided between Gary Anderson, Ray Kndsley, Art Pryor and possibly Jon Isom. The only sore spot is the lack of a left hander that would undoubtedly strengthen the staff as a change off. At bat the team looks good with a number of men swinging from the left side of the plate, a definite def-inite advantage in any game. In the field the team also looks good. Results of their play will be followed here with a great deal of interest and a complete report will be made in next week's issue is-sue of the Record. |
