Show Municipal Youth Program A check of activities in Cedar City throughout the summer would indicate that the young; people of this community com-munity are very fortunate in that the whole town seems to be Roin all-out to provide wholesome and beneficial .activities for them. Few communities can boast of as many and as varied activities for its youth. Anions the programs conducted regularly for the young people are Little League, Pony League, Junior Legion Le-gion baseball, swimming with free instruction provided, story hours, craft classes, a full summer music program, a varied boy scout program climaxed by the annual encampment en-campment at Navajo Lake, 4-1 1 club programs also climaxed cli-maxed by a three-day summer encampment, with the final event, the annual Southern Utah Livestock Show which features 4-H and FFA member exhibits, contests and sales. We wonder as we check these 'events over, if the youngsters who reap the benefit really appreciate what is leing done for them and the opportunities they enjoy. Or do they take the program for granted and fail to realize how much effort it takes on t he part of adults to make all these things possible. All of these activities, baseball, 4-H encampments, the scout program, and the livestock show, take many hours of work by the adults conducting the program and much money provided by these people and others. The youngsters young-sters show enthusiasm for all of these activities, and it is to be hoped that they also have a feeling of appreciation. Parents of boys and girls participating should do everything possible to make their children realize that they are indeed fortunate, and to teach them to appreciate nhat is being done for them. |
