Show Utah Pioneer Day Celebration Events Outlined July 21, Pioneed Day in Utah, will be celebrated in Cedar City Saturday with emphasis being made in the part the pioneers played in the development of the city and county. However, a complete com-plete day of iittivity for the ben-' ben-' cf it of everyone has been outlined out-lined by the various groups. Starting off the activities will be a Pioneer meeting sponsored by the Sons of Utah Pioneers at tho First Ward chapel at 10 a. m. Following this the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will host the pioneers of the city at a dinner din-ner to be served at the First ward. Afternoon activities will be devoted de-voted to the children and to the adults. At 2 p. m. the municipal swimming pool will be opened for two hours and all children up to 15 years of age will be admitted ad-mitted free of charge. At the same time the American Legion Junior baseball team will take on a strong team from St. George at the local baseball diamond. I It will be the first Inter -city competition lor the local Legion team. Children's Dance: Kiddles vill again be featured at 6:30 p. m. when the Lions Club will sponsor the popular children's chil-dren's dance at the tennis court adjacent to the swimming pool. In the evening the Cedar City Womens Softball Association sponsored Southern Utah Tournament Tourna-ment championship games will be played. The young and old will find activity in the city on the 24th and all lesiaents are invuea to participate In the events. Arrangements have been made under the guidance of the City Recreation Committee with Far-rell Far-rell Peterson in charge. Pioneers will further be entertained enter-tained Saturday afternoon when they will be guests of the Yergensen Yergen-sen Brothers at the Cedar Theatre Thea-tre for the showing of "Jubilee Trail." The Pioneer program Saturday morning has been outlined as follows, fol-lows, according to H. P. Dotson, who has been placed in charge: Opening song, "America," by the congregation; opening prayer, Edward A. Parry; selections by the Master Singers under the direction di-rection of Reed Berrett with Virginia Vir-ginia Larson, accompanist; piano and organ duet by Mrs. Larson and Bernella Jones; a short sketch of pioneer history by Gus-tive Gus-tive O.
