Show New College League Formed In Utah, Idaho A new Intermountaln College atiiletlc conference is being organized organ-ized In Utah and Idaho, Theron Ashcroft, immediate past president of the Intermountaln Junior College, Col-lege, announces. The new conference, confer-ence, which Is expected to become effective with the opening of the i948-49 basketball season, will Include In-clude nine teams three from Idaho and six from Utah, and will provide much more attractive schedules for teams and fans alike. The action In expanding the conference con-ference resulted In a request from Weber college at Ogden to be admitted ad-mitted back into the conference after af-ter a year of free lance activity, and a request from Albion, Ricks, and Boise colleges, to be admitted Into the Intermountaln organization. Mesa College, located at Grand Junction, Colorado, had announced Its Intention to withdraw from the conference to join with the Colorado schools. However, with the new organization or-ganization being perfected Mesa representatives rep-resentatives have Indicted that that school may remain with the Utah and Idaho group, which would make a well-rounded ten team league. In addition to the three Idaho schools, Weber and Mesa, the conference con-ference would Include B. A. C, Dixie Snow, Carbon and Westminster. The new conference is to be called call-ed the Intermountaln College conference, con-ference, not Junior College. This change was made because of the fact that four of the schools, BAC, Ricks, Albion and Westminster are now offerlnf four year training. - The organization will be erfected and officers elected at a meeting to be held in Cedar City on May 14th, when, the Jaycee track and field meet will be held here. |
