Show Spring Clean Up In Full Swing It's here again the annual Spring Clean-up Drive and with May 6 only five days away, the campaign Is In full swing. Sponsored each spring by the Junior Chamber of Commerce, trie program this year Is under the supervision sup-ervision of Maylln Maxfleld. H ha lacked the City Beautlflcatlon com Imlttee to work with him In urging the people of Cedar to clean thlr yards, and more Important still -to haul all rubbish to the city dump. The Junior Chamber mem bers are willing to clean the proper ty of the widows and aged, but feci that other resident or the city, even those not owning a truck, can surely sure-ly hlro or borrow one to take away the debris from their lots. With people handling their own clean-up problems, Junior Chamber volunteers volun-teers will be free to use their time and man power on May S to Inspect and clean streets, parks and vacant properties. Civic clubs are responding to the plea for active support In the cleanup clean-up drive. Forty-two members of the Rotary club spent the entire morning morn-ing Tuesday straightening up the East and West entrances to Cedar. They hauled away Innumerable truck loads of rubbish which was gathered from property adjoining the highways, burned tumble weeds, and hand raked the sides of the road at each entrance. Fines of those members who failed to report for work paid for the trucks and gas used. At the regular Rotary luncheon meeting that followed, M. J. Urle. city beautlflcatlon chairman, Mayor Oronway Parry, and City Councilman Council-man Morris Roberts presented an outline of the clty-wlde curb, gutter and sidewalk paving program. A large plot plan of the city was used to illustrste the talk, thus allowing members to see the extent of the proposed project With the Idea of acquainting as many people as possible pos-sible with details of the paving project, pro-ject, Mr. Urle, Mayor Parry, and Mr. Roberts gave similar talks before be-fore the Lions club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce last week. |
