Show Goodwill Tour Will Visit Cedar Tuesday, May 4 More than one hundred members of the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce will spend next Monday night, May 3rd In Cedar City while on a goodwill tour of southern south-ern Utah and southeastern Nevada on Highway 91 from May 3 to 6. The tour will be in Nephi, Fillmore, Milford and Beaver on May 3. and In Cedar City, Hurricane, St. George and Las Vegas on May 4. The group will remain In Las Vegas all day i May 5, and return to Salt Lake City on May 6, stopping in Cedar City for lunch. Leaving Salt Lake City at 7:00 a. m. Monday the good-will tour will , arrive In Cedar City at 9:00 p. m. j and spend the the night here. Arrangements Ar-rangements for their stay in Cedar City are being made by the Intercommunity Inter-community Relations committee of the Chamber of Commerce, with Dr. L. V. Broadbent as chairman. Tuesday morning, at 9 o'clock, a breakfast will be held at the Es-calante Es-calante hotel, with civic leaders and municipal officials of Cedar City and surrounding communities as guests of the Salt Lake group. Dr. Walter Mathesius, president of the Oeneva Steel Company, will address ad-dress the group as Cedar City's speaker of the meeting. Throughout the tour speaking will be at a minimum, min-imum, with short talks at each gath-erlng, gath-erlng, with one speaker from the Salt Lake Chamber, and one local speaker. The visitors will travel In three huge cross-country busses. With them will be a gay, noisy kilted and colorful Salt Lake Bagpipe band, which will be seen In action at all stops. With them will also be the Chamber Music Trio (Chamber of Commerce, that Is) which will entertain en-tertain at all meal functions. The participants will be garbed for Dixie weather with sun helmets, many of them cane, and at most stops local bands will greet them. This Is one trip where the home folks wiU be the guests, rather than the hosts. With the aid of local com-mlttees, com-mlttees, leading business and civic figures of the home city and surrounding sur-rounding communities will be guests of the Salt Lake Chamber at breakfasts, break-fasts, lunches or dinners. After visiting in Las Vegas the Salt Lakers will stop In Cedar City for lunch on their return to their homes. They will be here at 1:30 p. m. on that day. But there will be no meeting at that time. |
