Show RIFLE CLUB ORGANIZED IN CEDAR, 'APPLICATION MADE FOR CHARTER I A new rifle club has teen oig tn-ized tn-ized In Cedar City and application made for a charter, the application having already been filed with Uv: director cf Civilian Marksmanln. Organization was begun at a special meeting last week called by Lt. Col. R. F. Thweatt, regular army instructor in-structor for the Utah National Guard, and Lt. Col. J. Frank Dal-lcy, Dal-lcy, Battalion Commander, 213th Armored Field Artillery, Utah National Na-tional Guard. ILdriow E. Chrlstensen, member cf the Cedar City Council, was elected president, and the remainder remaind-er of the offices will be filled at a later meeting to be called by the president. -Mr. Chrlstensen points out that the purpose of the organization is to piomote appreciation and proper handling of fire arms by civilians, and to engage in competition with other clubs, schools, teams and In dividuals, locally and on a state and national basis. The new president state's that the organization will have a Junior division di-vision open to boys 12 to 18 years of age, as well as the usual senior division. The membership fee will be $5.00 for each senlcr member, and this fee will entitle the member mem-ber to a Junior membership card also. Money from the memberships will be used for the construction of rifle ranges, lighting an indoor range, freight on ammunition and supplies furnished by Director or Civilian Marksmanship, and purchase pur-chase of ammunition for re-sale to members. Each senior member will receive, free of charge, 120 rounds of 30' calibre and 100 rounds .22 calibre ammunition, and each Junior member mem-ber will receive 400 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition. The senior club will receive eight 30 calibre rifles and the junior division di-vision will receive ten .22 calibre rifles. Additional ammunition may be purchased by the club for resale re-sale to the members, at Vic per round for .22 ammunition, and 3c per round for 30 calibre. In addition j the club can purchase rifles for members at prices ranging from $15.00 to $60.00. Enflelds can be purchased for $5.00 each, with new barrels, if needed, for $1.97 each, Mr. Chrlstensen states.
