Show Markers Wffl Be Placed Along Spanish Trail As the result of a trip made last week by William R. Palmer, president presi-dent of the Spanish Trails Association, Assoc-iation, Walter Lunt, Oustlve O. Larson and Randolph Grlmshaw concerted effort of cities and organizations organ-izations from Cedar City to Santa Fe, New Mexico, will be expended toward marking the entire old trail. The local committee visited every community along the trail from Cedar Ce-dar City to Santa Fe, through Utah, Colorado and New Mexico, and interviewed in-terviewed municipal officials, civic groups and individuals interested In the historic value of the old route. In each Instance they received assurance as-surance Spanish Trail oranlzations would be set up immediately. A similar trip will be made to Los Angeles soon, to effect the same type of organization on the western end of the route. Then, Mr. Palmer, states all organizations will work toward a plan to set road markers in all sections all on the some day, tentatively set for October IS and thus in one day lift that historic, old, almost forgotten trail from Santo Fe to Los Angeles out of oblivion into the publlo consciousness. conscious-ness. "The Spanish Trail was the first route open across the United Statoi North of Orand Canyon," Mr. Palmer Pal-mer states, "and was traveled as early as 1773. Many famous old scouts and trapers of the early west traveled over this trail.," he continued. con-tinued. "Many, hundreds of Indian slaves were taken from this interior country by the Spaniards and sold In Santa Fe and Los Angeles."
