Show Fourteen Cafes, Restaurants Get Class "A" Rating A campaign to bring all cafes and fountains in Cedar City where food and drink is served up to an "A" classification with regards to cleanll-ness cleanll-ness and sanitation, ended in success suc-cess yesterday when inspection showed every cafe In the city meeting meet-ing the requirements. Class "A" cards were posted In fourteen cafe" and fountains, and a fifteenth, the Piute, Is closed for repairs and will receive the same rating when It Is reopened. ' City councilman Kumen S. Gardner, Gard-ner, In charge of sanitation reports that every cafe operator In this city has cooperated to the fullest extent since the new sanitation ordinance was passed two months ago. The improvement Is remarkable Mr. Gardner states, because when the first inspection was made after the new ordinance was passed only three cafes in the city met the qualifications qualifica-tions for an "A" rating. The new ordInnnM naitpt-nprf af. ter the State sanitation standards, sets stringent requirements for an "A" rating. Cafes falling to meet one or two minor requirements are graded "B", and grade "C" is in violation of more important conditions condi-tions of sanitation, and cafes with such a rating are granted only a temporary permit to operate for a period of not more than thirty days. This temporary permit It granted only to allow for continued operation opera-tion while the necessary improvements improve-ments are being made. When the new ordinance was passed all cafe operators were called together and an explanation of the requirements given, after which a preliminary inspection was made and operators notified of what improvements im-provements would be required. Wholehearted cooperation was given (Continued on Back Page) Cafe Continued from Front Page In every Instance, and when final Inspection was made yesterday it was possible to give the highest rating rat-ing to each establishment in the city where food and drink is served. Inspections have been made by Mr. Gardner, Glen Sagers, State Sanitary Inspector, and Charles Gordon, newly appointed City Sanitary Sani-tary Inspector, assisted by a special spe-cial sanitary inspector from the state health office. Mr. Gardner reports that regular inspections will be made every ten to thirty days, and if any operator falls to continue to meet the sanitation sani-tation requirements his "A" rating will be removed and a lesser rating posted. The law requires ttiat these ratings be conspicuously posted thus offering protection to the public. |
