BEAM Jji With ths is.,ue I make my final bow to you lis one of Southern U-tah's U-tah's Navy Recruiters, in fact this Is a final bow to the Navy Recruiting Recruit-ing Service for yours truly is in receipt re-ceipt of orders to report to the Receiving Station in New York for further transfer to sea duty. I reported re-ported for duty here in Cedar City on August 17. 1940 and will leave August l. 1942. Almost two very pleasant years with you folks but now there is a war to be won. Ern Robeiyc has been transfered to Pidvo and will con inue for a time In the Recruiting Service in that district. To replace us are B. L. Shuttles-worth, Shuttles-worth, Chief Signal Man who will assume the duties of recrui'er in charge and L. E. Kendall, Specialist Special-ist first clas who will do the traveling trav-eling Mr. and Mrs. Shuttlesworth and Mr. Kendall arrived in town over the weekend. Mrs. Kenclail will come down later from Salt Lake City. And we hear that Bill Hendry will be replaced later with another Pharmnc'st Mate. Incidcn-iy, Incidcn-iy, Bill Is cloin;; fine up in Salt tjike as the Medical Officer's right hand man. -USN- An interesting department at the San Diego Naval Training Station Is the Insurance Office, where Lt. Tlpi.ett and a staff of five men explain ex-plain and take applications for insurance in-surance issued by Uncle Sam at cost to service men. Men are allowed allow-ed to take out up to $10,000 worth of tlvs insurance. Contributions toward a community commun-ity nursing cupboard was started this week when three women's clubs in the city donated money for the purchase of supplies for the cupboard. All women's clubs will be contacted so that all mi;:ht have the privilege of helpinj get supplies sup-plies for the cupboard. Mrs. F. W. Leigh and Mrs. Frank Van Colt have generously consented consen-ted to take care of the community cupboard when it is assembled. Mrs. Leigh and Mrs. Van Cott will loan the articles and keep a record of people borrowing them, when they arc needed in the homes. The pro ect of the community cupboard is beinj yponsored by the Dls'.iict Nursing Council for War Service and Is being collected so that in any emergency nursing sup-I sup-I plies will be available for use In the homes. The project, although being sponsored as an emergency measure, will make available at all fines necessary equipment for the sick room, and anyone in the community com-munity can use the materials. D.t.iils of the cupboard and loaning loan-ing of suppllles have not yet been worked out, as much of the details depends upon the amount contributed contri-buted for the purchase of supplies. ! It Is hoped that such articles as ' crutches, bed pans, hotwater bot-I bot-I ties, ice pack containers, a wheel , chair and other articles can be placed In the collection, j Although the cupboard will be ( collected througU contributions of the women In the community, any group or Individuals wishing to donate do-nate to the project may do so.
