And with that Increase In pay there should be no reason for new sallormen not coming home for a few days before be-fore they are transferred to units of the fleets. -USN- The Navy has always encouraged encourag-ed all kinds of athletics and sports as part of the moral program and as a boost to-physical education, but here Is an item I swiped from the San Diego Naval Training Station Sta-tion paper that will Interest all of the old time service men. It la headed "Enlisted Golfers Fire First Rounds" and goes on to say "Three flights of 32 men each began flre-lng flre-lng on the qualifying rounds on the Sail Ho Golf Course today." O we!l I guess six hours of drill and six of study, lectures, etc., aren't enough to send these modern youngsters to bed tired or maybe they train them different these days but did any of you old-timers ever hear of enlisted mens golf tournaments? -USN- Every new recruit In the Regular Navy or the Naval Reserve receives an outfit of clothing and equipment equip-ment valued at $133.81, and that Is the cost price. This clothing outfit out-fit is all the Navy recruit receives free but with reasonable care It should last for the duration and some Items will last a lifetime. |
