Show City To Support Jaycee Projects Cooperation on two Important projects was promised the Junior Chamber of Commerce by the City Council at the regular semi-monthly meeting Thursday night. Support Sup-port on the projects was solicited by Reed Roberts and Thomas Evans, Ev-ans, representatives of the Junior Chamber Safety Committee. In order to insure greater safety safe-ty for pedestrians while crossing Main Street In the marked pedestrian pedes-trian lanes, the Chamber representatives repre-sentatives asked that over-head signs be placed over each lane warning motorists to stop while pedestrians are in the lanes. After a thorough discussion In which It was pointed out that proper enforcement en-forcement of traffic regulations with regards to such lanes would add much to the safety on the street, and would eliminate "Jaywalking," "Jay-walking," the council prpmised to provide the signs at the earliest possible date. The second request made by the committee was that the city Improve Im-prove the road leading to the City Dump. It was pointed out that the road was In very poor condition and as a result many people were hauling rubbish to spots more easily eas-ily reached and dumping It along side or highways approaching the city. The Council also promised to cooperate on this request and to Improve the road in. the very near future. |
