Com-mission. The principle Item of construction con-struction on the project will be widening the road bed and oiling It to a width of 24 feet. The work on the project Is to be done by State forces and will not be contracted. Work will start in th very near future, since it Is to get underway as soon as the equipment equip-ment can be assembled for the Job. The Black Ridge project has not yet been approved, but all surveys and detailed information are in th liands of Army Engineers, and should be approved in the near future. fu-ture. Tills Job. one of the biggest road improvement Jobs undertaken in this part of the state for some time, will be contracted, and should be advertised for bids sometime in September. The project Is for a new alignment from Dry Creek to the south of the Black Ridge, and will probably include a huge fill of the Ash Creek gorge, with a diversion diver-sion tunnel through the ledge to carry the Ash Creek stream. Mr. MeLeese reports that the State Road Commission has promised prom-ised that funds will be provider for the graveling of the road from Modena to the Nevada state line, which Is now under construction. It was hoped that this could be oiled upon completion, but since all funds are now controlled by the Army, and since this highway Is not considered of military importance, impor-tance, it Is doubtful if funds for oiling will be made available at the present time. The construction contract on this stretch of road has not yet been completed, having been delayed recently re-cently because of the lack of equipment. |
