Show Cedar Drug Store Closed Tuesday j The doors of the Cedar City Drug store, one of the oldest business bus-iness establishments in Cedar City were closed Tuesday night, and Mrs. H. E. Petersen, manager, will leave soon to make her home In California. I H. E. Petersen, purchased the store from the Smlth-Faus Drug! Co. shortly before he left Cedar City in command of Battery P, 222nd. Field Artillery of' the Utah National Guard, and the business has been operated by Mrs. Peter-1 sen since that time. Since Mr. Pete Pe-te "sen, who is now serving in the Hawaiian Islands with the rank of a major, will not be free to operate oper-ate the business until the War Is over, it was decided to turn the business back to the Smlth-Faus company, and company officials decided to close the store and transfer the merchandise to other company operated Drug stores. The Cedar Drug store was estab lished in 1898, and had been operated opera-ted continuously at the same location lo-cation for the past 44 years. Mrs. Petersen will move to Palo Alto, California, where her son will study at the Stanford University Univer-sity this winter, and her daughter, Marie will enter an elementary school. "Hank" will not enter the university until late in September, but Marie must enter at an earlier date, -so they will leave some time during August. Miss Gladys McConnell, pharmacist pharma-cist at the Cedar City Drug store for many years, has beeh employed employ-ed as pharmacist at the Thornton Drug Store, having taken over her new position Wednesday morning. |
