Show TO MR. FRANK J. SULLIVAN. Delegate of the United Irish Societies Socie-ties of San Francisco to the Foun-tenoy Foun-tenoy Convention. Good speed to thee o'er ocean wave, To commemorate at Fontenoy, The deeds and valor of the brave That thrill thro' Irish hearts with joy. The valiant dust that silent lies Is vital for the mighty deed, And from its ashes heroes rise. Like fertile grain from scattered seed. Carve on the stone, or marble block, ln-wrought with golden letters large. The heroes' names, the battle shock, The glory of the victor's charge. What tho' the Captaiiv's voice is still, And still, the hearts he led that day, Its echo rings yet down the hill Of Fontenoy will ring for aye! John N. Philan in San Francisco , Monitor, May 1. 1905. |
