Show Masters program to be offered in Jan. CEDAR CITY Several classes will be offered winter quarter in the Utah State University-Southern University-Southern Utah State College Cooperative Masters Program in Elementary and Secondary Education; Winter quarter classes begin January 5 in St. George and January 6 in Cedar City, according to James M. Miller, dean of the SUSC School of Education. Along with coursework for the masters in education, an internship and class for would-be principals is being offered for an endorsement now available through the cooperative program. "The administrative-supervisory administrative-supervisory endorsement is earned in addition to the masters degree," Miller said. "Provisional endorsement is granted for approximately 36 graduate hours while the professional endorsement requires approximately 80 hours beyond the masters degree." There are in excess of 100 persons enrolled in the graduate program, 35 of them seeking the administrative endorsement, Miller said. "Oral examinations for individuals who have completed the necessary coursework for the masters degree will be held February 10 in Cedar and St. George," he said. "We expect to award the masters in education to 25 graduates this year." The USU-SUSC cooperative program was established in 1978. Geared especially for in-service in-service teachers, it allows them to earn the masters degree without moving to a metropolitan area to do so. Registration for winter quarter classes, Miller said, can be completed during the first class period.
