Show Redmen juniors take tournaments By LYNETTE SAWYER Record Reporter BOULDER CITY Cedar High's JV basketball team saw action this week against a team from Indian Springs, Nevada, and the young Redmen were victorious in both games to take first-place in a tournament played in Nevada. The Indian Spring's team was a varsity squad which started five seniors. The Reds handled them easily and won the game 60-38. The next day Cedar met the Boulder City JV. The Redmen won the contest 47-43. Junior Robert Nakken was the high score man in both games. Nakken and K.C. Jones were named to the JV all-tournament all-tournament team as a result of their excellent play. Coach Don Reid praised the play of Nakken, Jones, and co-junior co-junior member Mike Garfield. Reid added, "The sophomores played very well, also. Cedar High has some good kids coming up." According to Reid, the young team ran their offense very well and played good defensive ball games as well. "We needed the experience' stated Reid. "I was more than happy with the way they performed." The CHS sophomores will play Mountain View this week and the JV squad is scheduled to participate in a Utah Valley tournament over the upcoming weekend. |
