Show Geology professor attends . plate tectonics conference tectonics at Stanford University. The SUSC geologist has worked four summers as an exploration geologist with the United States Geologic Survey, searching for possible nuclear waste disposal sites in the Paradox Basin. in relation to plate boundaries. Maxfield has been a SUSC faculty member since 1969, serving as chairman of the department of physical sciences from 1977 to 1980.
