Show Wrestlers from Provo, Orem and Heber City have been taught the hard way that the Uintah Utes are well educated in the sport of wrestling as the Ute matmen have massacred teams from Provo, Timpview, Orem and Wasatch 222 to 8. The Uintah Utes competed in a total of 48 matches and lost only two. Uintah crushed Timpview 55 to 3 and David Weeks, heavyweight, dropped a decision to his Thunderbird tussler. Uintah massacred Provo 65 to -1 and the Utes decked Orem 51-6. The six points were gained with Keith Campbell, 112, was pinned by Matt Nelson. Uintah thumped Wasatch 51-0. The Utes scored an average of 55.3 points in the four matches and held opponents to two points. The Uintah Ute wrestlers have outscored the rest of their opponents, Union, Meeker, American Fork and Rock Springs 163 to 47. Uintah downed Union 43 to 11 and American Fork 38 to 10. The Utes crushed the Cowboys from Meeker 38 to 11 and thumped Rock Springs 44-15. Uintah has an 8-0 record in dual meets and is 4-0 in Region 7 action. The Utes have scored 385 points in eight matches and have allowed only 55 points. It averages out to 48.1 points per meet and to only 6.8 points scored against. A number of former Uintah Ute grapplers are members of college wrestling teams. Morgan Woodhouse is in his third year at Brigham Young University and Kenny Cobbs is a second year man at Weber State College. Scott Ruppe and Kevin Huber are members of the wrestling team at Nevada-Las Vegas. Mike Seeley. Meeker, one of the top wrestlers in the state of Colorado, defeated Uintah's Jody Young in the Steamboat Springs tourney. Seeley and Young met again in the Rock Sprit Tournament and once again Seel emerged as the winner as he pi Young. However, Young refused to gjve and he gained his revenge when 2 toppled Seely in front of the Meekg fans 7 to 4 in Uintah's 38 to 11 victcp over Meeker Friday.
