JiVernal swimmers win 18 ribbons at meet i.t After being organized for only "'several months, the Vernal Swim club came home last Saturday from a Zone ,.. "C" swim meet in Murray with 18 ribbons. The Vernal Swim club which was organized last September is composed jof 18 members ranging in age from 5 to r 15 years. 's ' The team is very competitive, said one of their coaches Lief Holderson, .'''one or two members are sw imming in s ,Class B." ' a The AAU rates swimmers in three oatagories. Class C are those w ith a few "months of experience, B is in-:ermediate in-:ermediate and A is w orld competition. ,rv Holderson said that he hopes the esults of their efforts w ith the club w ill jjventuaUy get a competitive swim-i-'ning program into the schools. Participating ribbons were given to Ronnie Bereit, Yvonne Heap and Crissy Johnson for being first in their heat. Winners from the Vernal Club at the Murray moot were Justin Hodgkinson, second in 50 yd. freestyle, fourth in so yd breast, fifth in 100 yd freestyle, second in 100 yd. individual medley; Ronnie Bereit. third in 50 yd freestyle, third in 50 yd backstroke, second in 50 yd butterfly, third in 100 ft individual medley; Marlene Johnson, sixth in 100 yd backstroke, third in 100 yd individual in-dividual medley; Yvonne Heap, fifth in 100 yd freestyle, third in 100 yd butterfly, but-terfly, fourth in 100 yd breast; Derrick Boyce. third in 100 yd backstroke; Jesse Hodgkinson, fourth in 100 yd individual medley; Leah Halverson, sixth in 100 yd breast. nts I f - I., ' .
