Meetings will be held in Vernal, Salt Lake City, Rock Springs, Meeker, and Grand Junction the first week in February. The scoping meetings are designed to inform agencies, organizations and individuals in-dividuals about the EIS and regulations, regula-tions, define the scope of significant issues, identify related environmental reports, identify lease areas, etc. The regulations and EIS will address such issues as lands subject to leasing, acreage or size limitation of leases, diligent development, rentals and royalties, land use plans, and requirements re-quirements for additional impact analysis. Regional and cumulative impacts of oil shale development (particularly in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, where the major United States oil shale deposits are located) will also be assessed. |
