Show New director named at USU center Dr. David A. Medlyn has been named Director of Utah State University Education Center. Dr. Medlyn received ' r his Masters and Doctorate " degrees -from BYU. He comes to USU Education Center from Yankton College in South Dakota. Dr. Medlyn has also worked extensively ex-tensively with the U.S. Forest Service. His educational background is mainly in the sciences and his Doctorate is in Botany. His specialty is fossil plants. While at Yankton College, Dr. Medlyn was the Chairman of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He was past chairman of the faculty and an adjunct professor for the Nebraska Indian Community College. Dr. Medlyn was originally from Grass Valley, Calif. He and his wife Paula, who is from Provo, have two children Dayne, 14, and April, 12. He enjoys fishing and hunting. "We will gradually expand into the areas where we feel there is a demand and a need," said Dr. Medlyn. He noted that there will be major changes at USU Education Center immediately. "The Education Center provides a very valuable service for the communities at a very reasonable rate in terms of what they get. The resources of Utah State University are here without having to go there," said Dr. Medlyn. "It is a good program and I think it is going to improve and become a more and more important part of the communities," he added. |
