Cancer film shown The Uintah Basin Association of Governments was guest at tle Senior Citizen Centerat noon Wednesday, Jan. 13. Also a guest at dinner was Mrs. Mali Gean Campbell and her daughter Melissa. Mrs. Campbell showed a film "The Cancer That No One Talks About" and held a short discussion. 'I his film was especially for those people over 40 years of age. Mrs. Campbell will be showing another cancer film at the M&L Homemaker's club at the Manila High School cafeteria Jan. 21. Carole Scott, Manila's new mayor, conducted her first town council meeting Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. The town is considering cable TV. Plans were also discussed for the coming retirement part for former Manila Town Mayor Charles S. Willis for his eight years of dedicated service. The party will be given at the Senior Citizen Center at 1 p.m. Jan. 23. Everyone' is welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ruble are parents of a girl born Jan. 15 in the Uintah County Hospital in Vernal. The baby weighed 7 lbs. '.'2 oz. and was 19' inches in-ches in length at birth. She will be named Rae Ann. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Milburn Hatch of Dutch John. Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ruble of Manila. She has two ' maternal greaf-grandmothers, Mrs. Oma Cloward of Rangely and Mrs. Grace Hatch of Vernal. Blenrla Larson is the mother of a daughter born Jan. 12 In the Memorial Hospital. of Sweetwater County In Rock Springs. She weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. at birth and was 18 inches long. She will be named Meranda Jo. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Larsen of Manila. Mrs. Krystal Skinner and daughter Tara are spending two weeks visiting in San Diego, Calif. Mrs. George Ellsworth returned to Manila Jan. 12 after undergoing surgery at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. Mr. and Mrs. Art Robinson and children of Rock Springs spent Saturday afternoon in Manila visiting with Art's parents Mr. and Mrs. William E. Robinson. Seminary classes have resumed at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at the Manila LDS Seminary room. Adult education classes have started again at the Manila High School on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Bill Nelson is the instructor for shop classes and Mrs. Florence Murphy is instructor for the ceramics class. Plans are being made for the Sweetheart Ball at the Manila High School. Manila is having a January thaw although temperatures drop slightly below zero at night.
