The beef performance program between BYU and beef breeders is to identify outstanding animals which have desirable beef characteristics that are rather highly inherited. Data for feed efficiency is collected by the use of electronic gates which allow the bulls to be penned in groups but fed individually. Projected back fat and carcass data is obtained by sonar. |
