Show Crusade against crime needed Dear Editor: For some time I have spent a great deal of time trying to get the American people to form a crusade against crime. We have got to get Congress and state governments to really do something, or we are going to have another situation like they have in Italy, where it has completely gotten out of hand. Since the attempt on the life of our President Reagan, and members of his group, it should certainly wake-up people to take action. We can't have a bunch of "mad dogs" running loose to destroy us! It seems two of our Democrat Senators have awakened, and are really trying! In a recent article in the Reader's Digest in the March Issue, Senators Lawrence Chiles of Florida and Sen. Sam Nunn of Georgia came out with the facts of why we have runaway crime in this article. The title of this article is "How the IRS is helping the Mob." Most everyone who reads knows that Congress just nbout took away the effectiveness of the FBI and the CIA by suppressing authority, and practically destroyed the treasury T-Men, who put top criminals behind bars and' destroyed the effectiveness of their underlings in the mid-1930s. Then of all things, Congress passed a measure, anyone, foreign agents, criminnls, where all they had to do was to call up and get top secret information on what the law had them IxMng checked for. It is time that Congress gets off the backs of the treasury T-Men, and do something to stop this disgraceful situation we have in our country allowing rampant runnway crime! Sincerely, J.A. MCKNIGHT |
