Wla had a new high temperature e s week. It reached 71 degrees on April 16 and 18. The lowest temperature was Sunday night when it dropped to 32 degrees. Ice was reported in some areas out of town that night. On April 15 .07 of an inch of rain fell. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ellsworth, their son Monte and a granddaughter of Ogden visited at the home of Clyde's cousin, George Ellsworth on Saturday, April 18. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Trayah spent the Easter vacation in Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Twitchell took advantage of the spring vacation and a few more days to go to Salt Lake City for medical checkups. Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Steinaker and children spent Easter Sunday with Mrs. Steinaker's mother, Mrs. Fred Ross of Myton, Utah. Visiting at the home of Mrs. Martha Nelson was her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Harris and her grandson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. David Harris of Duchesne. Only three of the Manila boys participated par-ticipated in the Pinewood Derby at the Scout-a-Rama in Rock Springs, Saturday, April 18. Lance Hamblin was out of town that day.- The boys were divided -into groupsvtotaHng 80boys These groups competed in their own group. Second and first place winners from these groups then competed to eliminate the finalist to 6 cars. David Steinaker from Manila was one of the finalists. Trophies were given to the first three winners. David placed fifth in the group of six. Bevin Briggs took second place in his group, but was eliminated in the second competition so did not make the finals. Easter Sunday was slightly cool with a high of 63, a slight wind, mostly cloudy skies and now and then a few drops of rain. Some people enjoyed picnicing; some family dinners at home. Quite a few local residents were out of town. There were a great many visitors to the area. |
