Show Sell hospital to HCA Dear Editor: Like most other people, I've been giving a lot of thought to our hospital situation lately and with good friends on both sides of the issue, I have also inquired as to their positions. It has also been interesting to read the current flood of letters to the Express. No situation of this type is ever completely clear, but I'll have to lend my support to the sale of the two buildings to HCA. I do so because of my concern that private organizations are in a better position to manage endeavors en-deavors of this type and to plan for future growth according to experience in similar situations. If we convert the old building into a convalescent center it will landlock the current hospital and prevent any significant expansion. Then a few years down the line we, 11 have a "white elephant" to dispose of. I do urge the rapid construction of a convalescent center in a convenient location to the hospital, but in doing so I'd encourage the Commissioners to continue to seek to turn such a facility over to private enterprise too. Hopefully this current rift won't continue to widen. Both sides are ultimately concerned with making Ashley Valley a better place to live. When the debate Is over, let's join arms again. CORKY W.
