If the Bonanza site is not approved the next alternative would be to go to Green River, Utah for a plant site and different coal source. In the Bonanza site the coal will come from a mine near Rangely. All three of these events are very important im-portant to the future growth of the area. All three have organized groups that are opposing the developments. We have gone on record favoring all three but have tried to be open minded concerning con-cerning those who feel differently. We feel that opposition will either prove the projects to be sound and in the best interest in-terest of the local area or they will be abandoned. If the projects are not needed and will not serve the area well, they should meet with opposition. But after years of planning by those who are specialists in their particular fields, it is a little discouraging to be met with opposition. The next month is a critical one for the area and we would hope that the residents of the community will seek to learn more about these three projects and weigh the facts, then make their decision based on knowledge and sound judgment. Friday is Arbor Day. The day to plant that tree. Already many persons have been out planting new trees and shrubs because of the warm summer weather. It is also the time to clean up around our homes and community. Let's make a special effort this year to make our yards and community look cleaner and better than ever before. One more item. Don't forget to turn all those clocks and watches ahead one hour Saturday night so when the nation goes on Daylight Saving Time Sunday morning we'll all be on time. Yes, it's that time again, "Spring ahead and Fall back". Don't argue, just go ahead and do it and forget about that hour you lost because you'll get it back in October when the clocks will all be turned back. DST keeps us alert to the need for change, even though it is for one hour. |
