Show One of the most unusual basketball encounters in the All Indian Women's Basketball Tournament was a third round contest between the Wild Horse crew and the Walker River Lakers of Nevada, Friday evening. It was known as the game that ended with 50 seconds left on the clock in the second half. The Lakers had a 23 to 22 lead at the end of the first half, but the Wild Horse team rallied to take a small lead midway in the second half. Wild Horse had a small lead with about two minutes left in the game. The Wild Horse crew had to play the final two minutes of the game with only two players in the game as compared to five by the Walker River Lakers. Two of the Wild Horse starters fouled out early in the second half and the Nevada team put its two reserves into the game and didn't have any available players on the bench. Three more players fouled out, but with only two hoopsters in the game the Wild Horse crew still had a one point lead. However, the Lakers put in two points for a one point lead of 46 to 45 and Jill Downs was all alone at the basket and she put in a field goal for a 48 to 45 Walker River lead. Downs missed her first attempt at the field goal, but with a Wild Horse eager charging after her she put the ball through the hoop on her second attempt. There were 50 seconds left in the game and Wild Horse still had a chance to win the game as they were behind by three points, but one of the two Wild Horse cagers still left in the game committed her fifth foul and the game was ended with 50 seconds left in the contest because the one Wild Horse eager didn't have anyone to in-bound the ball to. The Trading Post team from Fort Hall, Idaho, became known as the marathon basketball team, Saturday as they competed in 6 contests and won all six and the championship. The Idaho team had a bye in the first round and was downed by Wild Horse, 64 to 55 in the second round on Thursday. Trading Post downed American Feathers on Friday. The Idaho team crushed the U & O Eagles, Saturday morning in a 10 a.m. game by the score of 66 to 45 and gained 75 to 50 revenge over Wild Horse in a 1:45 p.m. game. Two hours later Trading Post downed the Jayhawks, 52 to 37, in a 5 p.m. game and the Trading Post cagers blasted the Walker River Lakers, 88 to 37, in a 6:15 p.m. ball game. The Trading Post crew downed the Cougarettes for the championship, 51 to42in the first game (9 p.m.) and 71 to 51 in the second game (10:45 p.m.). Three officials were used in the first championship game between the Cougarettes and the Trading Post crew and three officials were used in the first seven minutes of the second championship cham-pionship game. Only two officials were used in the rest of the second game as one of the referees decided he had had enough and he called timeout with nine minutes left in the first half, took himself out of the game, and was never heard from again. Two basketball championship games just don't wear out the players and fans, but they wear out the officials as well. There were plenty of young, middle-age middle-age and old fans watching the games during the. All Indian Women's Basketball Tournament in Fort Duchesne. A lot of young fans would dart back and forth down the court and one elderly lady had a traditional Indian In-dian dress and shawl on and was ready for the basketball game as she had tennis shoes on her feet. The fans also knew what the game of basketball was all about and one elderly lady shouted, "Hey referee, that's three seconds." Uintah High School toppled the Cyprus Pirates in Magna, April 15 by the score of 6 to 3 and gained revenge for a 9 to 2 loss to Cyprus in Vernal on April 3.
