The items are valued at over $500. Police arrest 3 for Jensen theft Following a pursuit on foot, Vernal Oty Police arrested three Vernal men (connection with a theft in Jensen Sunday, April 12. According to Detective Paul Parker, Vernal City Police, two of the suspects were rafting down the Green River. It : tame too cold to continue rafting so Ihe two beached at Slip Mountain and walked to Jensen where they asked Mark Karren for a ride into Vernal. The two later returned to Jensen , taween 10 p.m. and Monday morning and broke into Karren's residence and stole a number of items including a Miba tank, camera and several pistols. ' The two knew Karren wouldn't be at residence because of their con-wation con-wation with him before he gave them 'ride into town, said Parker. Police recovered the stolen items, valued at over $500, at 142 North 700 East, Tuesday, April 14. Also, a typewriter stolen last fall from the Vernal Junior High School was with the stolen merchandise. Acting on a tip, police located the two suspects at the Drollinger Apartments. The two escaped through the back window, but were later captured on foot. Arrested were John Russell Allen, 22, of Vernal for possession of stolen property, Randy Robert Young, 19, of Vernal, on felony theft and Jeffery Allen Levesque, 24, on second degree theft. During the arrest police found several instruments used for self defense and drug apparatus. In an unrelated incident, a Vernal man was arrested for walking out of American Savings Bank with $300 and his uncashed payroll checks. Police reported that the man came into the bank at about 3 p.m. last Monday and wanted $800 cash for two payroll checks. The cashier told the man she could give him $300 and deposit the rest in his savings account. When the cashier turned to make the deposit, the suspect ran out of the bank with the $300 and his unsigned checks, said Parker. Rick Smith, 20, of Vernal is being charged with felony theft and was incarcerated in-carcerated in the Uintah County Jail.
