T The Uintah Utes will host the first place team in Region Seven, the Murray Spartans, Friday at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader on the Vernal diamond. Murray has a record of 4 wins and 1 loss as of April 15 and Cyprus and Jordan have 3-3 records. Tooele is 2-2. Judge Memorial has a 3-4 record and Uintah is 2-4 in region play. A doubleheader sweep by the Utes over Murray would put the Uintah crew right back into the picture for a berth in the state tournament. tour-nament. Murray suffered its first Region 7 loss of the season when they were edged by the Judge Memorial Bulldogs, 5 to 4, April 13. The Uintah Utes split with the Bulldogs in a doubleheader on the road, April 3. The Spartans had a 3-0 lead over Judge Memorial, a team which had not "beaten the Murray crew in years, but Joe Rotzler unleashed a big bat in the final two innings to lift the Bulldogs to a 5-4 win. Murray's lefty Kevin Wright had a one-hit shutout and a 3-0 lead after one out in the sixth inning, but he surrendered surren-dered singles to Mark Murphy and Brett Hansen. Wright had a 2-2 count on Rotzler, but the Judge centerfielder blasted the next pitch over the left field fence to tie up the game at 3-3. The Spartans acquired a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning. Floyd Armstrong singled and stole second. One out later, he broke for third. Armstrong Arm-strong reached third base and was able to come home when the throw sailed into left field. Spence McDonald, Murray sophomore pitcher, struck out the first batter in the seventh inning, but gave up singles to Justus Romero and Murphy. Judge loaded up the bases when Armstrong misplaced a force attempt at second base. Rotzler lifted a fly ball high into the sun and the ball dropped for a double, which drove in the winning runs. The Murray Spartans also toppled Cyprus, 15 to 2 and Jordan, 6 to 5. Cyprus and Murray were tied at 2-2 in the fourth inning. Paul Beck of Murray hurled a four-hitter and struck out seven. Armstrong, Beck, Dave Erickson, Brent Hilton, George Roumpos and Ulibarri had two hits. Jordan tied up the game with Murray in the sixth inning on a grand slam, but Murray scored a run in the eighth inning in-ning to win the game by the score of 6 to 5. Ulibarri was on second base with two outs and a hit and run was called for. Ulibarri broke with the pitch to Roumpos, who hit a bouncer to short and Ulibarri rounded third and headed home. He slid under the tag for a 6-5 Murray win. Beck struck out 13 batters in six innings , and walked nine. McDonald Mc-Donald pitched two innings of relief ball. Beck also belted a homer.
