The victory enabled the Utes to gain revenge for a loss to the Pirates in Vernal on April 3 and improved im-proved the Vernal crew's region record to 2 wins and 4 losses. Uintah has an overall record of 3 wins and 4 losses. Cyprus scored single runs in the first and second innings for a 2-0 advantage. Uintah's Mike Reynolds whiffed the first two Cyprus batters, but Jones got on base due to an error. Jones stole second base and was driven in on a triple blast by Dilley, which gave Cyprus a 1-0 lead after one inning. Coon was walked and stole second base putting men on third and second, but Romero flied out to end the inning. The Pirates' Davis led off with a single and Bracken slugged the baseball for a single. An error placed Davis on third base and Anderson belted the ball for a single to knock in Davis for a 2-0 Cyprus lead. Cyprus had a 2-0 lead after two innings, in-nings, but the Utes weren't ready to bite the baseball dust as they struck for two runs in the top of the third inning to tie up the contest at 2-2. Mike Johnson got on base due to an error and Pat Jenkins and Randy Smuin connected for singles to load up the bases. Jeff Good blasted the baseball for a single and drove in Johnson and a sacrifice fly by Rick Morton knocked in Smuin. The Uintah Utes broke the 2-2 tie w ith a four run blast in the top of the fourth inning. Chad Stringham struck 'j single and moved to second to I: error.
