West placed fourth in the tournament with 123Vz points. Phillips leaped out to a 2-0 lead in the first round due to a takedown and the West tussler nabbed the first place crown when he pinned Chris Smith of Vernal with 15 seconds left in the second round. Phillips also defeated Scott Zanetti of Rock Springs. Ronnie Rich of West crushed Brian Boyer of Green River, 10-1, for the 100 pound championship title. Rich dropped Boyer for a takedown and almost pinned the Wyoming wrestler in the first round.
