Show STATE'S LIQUOR RECEIPTS SET ALL TIME RECORD Utah's liquor receipts set a new all-time record in December when $1, 684,178.28 was paid for bottled goods dispensed through state liquor control commission outlets. This figure eclipsed the best previous pre-vious month December, 1946, by $46,747.67. High receipts were due to full markup made possible by removal of O P A ceilings, higher freight rates and increased costs of liquor. The net profits of $511,872 were highest in commission history. The 12 months' profits amounted to $3,427,022, or $472,383 more than 1946, when the profit was $2,594,-638.86. $2,594,-638.86. ' With the cities and counties receiving re-ceiving $1,000,000, the state's rhare of the 1947 net profits are $2,427,022.06. Despite increased salaries and wages for many employes, the December De-cember payroll was less than for the corresponding 1946 period, $39,285.42 being expended last month as compared with $39,331.08 in December, 1946. Enforcement expenses increased $2372 for last month as compared with 1946's 12th month. The commission com-mission spent $9838 compared with $7465.91 in December, 1946. A new item, on the monthly statement was setting aside of $995.16 toward the employes' retirement re-tirement fund. Approximately $6000 has been placed in the fund since July 1, 1947. |
