Show Spriiplle Mi Dewls, Payson Play Here May Mil Chilis Seed Victory Friday To Keep In lining; Close Battle Anticipated Red Devils Drop Game At Nephi To Competent Juab Cagers; Christensen Is High Scorer For S.H.S. Coach Art Hughes and his Springville Red Devils hope to salvage enough honors against the strong Payson team here Friday night to keep in the running for at least a share in the second-place honors of the Nebo hoop circuit and another an-other try at the top spot by ringing ring-ing up a victory over the Lions. The Devils dropped their golden opportunity, last Friday at the hands of the Juab cagers at Nephi. The game Friday will begin at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by the Sophomore tilt at 6:30. Judging from the sale of tickets, which were sold out in a matter of an hour or so after they went on sale, a huge and enthusiastic crowd is anticipating the coming sports fiest Friday night. Both the team and spectators are cognizant cog-nizant of the fact that a victory is imperative if the Devils are to keep in striking distance of the Nebo crown and a tourney berth in March. Friday, the Hughesmen should prove quite definitely which of the two courses they will take. Payson is sporting a brand new coach in the person of Deb Smith, and, although reportedly weakened weaken-ed by several team mishaps the Lions field a very strong, hard-driving hard-driving club that is hard to beat. The traditional close and hard fought battle is expected when the two teams square off. Devils Lose To Wasps ... Springville lost its game on the Nephi floor last Friday night to a smooth clicking Juab five,, but could have still won the contest if they had not been off on their shooting. The Red Devils, in two quarters the first and third rang up a total of 5 points while Juab's two lowest quarter scores totaled 19. Juab clicked together to knotch up 13 counters to the Devil's 4 for the first quarter and carried on from there to a 38-29 final score. Christensen looked good for the Devils. This fellow has rung up approximately 30 points in the past two games to give him a 15-point per game average. San-ford San-ford and Capt. Fullmer each counted 7 and 6 points. Scoring for Juab was evenly divided for the most part. Juab will meet Spanish Fork in the other Friday contest at Spanish. Box Score ...
