Show PLANS PROGRESS FOR FORMING OF NATIONAL GUARD Meeting Set Monday At Memorial Hall For Interested Men There will be a meeting next Monday evening, January 26, at 8 p. m., at Memorial hall, for all young men of Springville interested inter-ested in enlisting in the National Guard, it, was announced Wednesday Wednes-day by Capt. Max Alleman, following follow-ing a meeting Tuesday evening of all committeemen working on the project. An official from Fort Douglas will be in attendance at the Monday Mon-day meet, to explain functions of the National Guard and to answer questions which may be asked concerning con-cerning enlistments and organization, organiza-tion, Capt. Alleman said. In, the meantime, committees representing practically all civic clubs in Springville have a list of prospective young men whom they will contact in regard to securing their enlistment. The Springville unit will be known as Co. A of the 1334th Combat Com-bat Engineers. It is necessary that at least 10 men be formally inducted to form an organization, but it is expected that the local unit will . get at least 50 enlistments. enlist-ments. The age limit is from 17 to 35 years, and men may be married mar-ried or single. No definite date1 has been set for the beginning of drills, which are to be conducted in the recently remodeled basement of Memorial hall, until permanent armory quarters quar-ters are constructed. The meeting Tuesday evening was held under the sponsorship of a committee composed of J. Y. Bearnson, Maurice Anderson and Dave Friel, who have worked many months to secure the National Guard organization for Springville. |
