Show GAS HANDlCflPS if m WORK' Eureka Lilly Management Sinking on Favorable Showing. Special to The Tribune. KUnEKA, Sept. 6. Gas and heat are interfering to some extent with the shaft work at the Iron King bat despite de-spite tins handicap the crew of shaft men is making fairly ood headway. Superintendent Koberts reports a depth of about 1510 feet. Manager Loose litis not yet decided upon the depth the shaft is to be sunk before drifting will be taken up but he considers another 25 or ,'io feet sufficient. Superintendent Roberts states that gas is pouring into the shaft nuito rapidly at the present time and that it will be only a short time until a blower will be a necessity. Occasionally it is necessary to pull the men out of the shaft before their shift's work is completed. A few men are being kept at work on the Iron King's iron deposit, which is being blocked out and placed in shape for a heavy tonnage as soon as- the new East Tintic railroad reaches that property. After drifting through a body of low gratlo ore for a distance of about 125 feet on what is known as the 16-10 level the Eureka Lily people have commenced sinking a winze, being confident that better values will be found with depth. Scattered through the low grade cop-iier-silver ore are small stringers of higher grade material and the showing at this point is said to be about as promising as anything that the Kureka Lily has had in many months. In the south drift on the same level highly mineralized formation is now being cut and something of importance may he opened almost any time as there are new fissures ahead which hold out great promise. |
