M?. .Jex- was the only daughter of :Mr. and Mrs. .John Onodson, and was born at Crf).'.Mtureh, Northwickshire, Kn-gland, Kn-gland, January J, 1S2IS. When he was 11 years of ajje she was left motherless and asHiuned the duties of honieimiker for her father and brothers, of whom there were six. In 1S.k! she embraced the L. D. H. religion and decided to como to Utah. She sailed on a ship callod the AVandumero, and it was on this vesnol that she married William Jex, who also had left Filmland. They arrived in Utah in 1854, living first in Salt Lake, where Mrs. Jex taught school. Jn 1857 the family moved to Spanish Fork, where it has since resided, taking active part in the religious and civic work of the community. com-munity. Mrs. Jex was the mother of twelvo children, eleven of whom aro living, and all except Hebcr ('., tho youngest son, arc residents of this vicinity. vi-cinity. The sons are: Richard IX.. John W. and Heher C. Jex, tho latter being receiver re-ceiver in the federal land office at Salt Lake City. The daughters are: Mrs. Joshua Brockbank, Mrs. R. W. McKell, Mrs. Ifeber Kobertson, Mrs. Henrv J. McKell, Mrs. L. 0. Lawrence, Mrs. A. T. Money and Mrs. R. S. Bradford. Brad-ford. ,. There also are surviving 123 grandchildren, grand-children, sixty great grandchildren and several great" great grandchildren. |
