Show OflIII CASE SUSPEGTJAILED Tony Bruno Arrested at Scofield; Taken to Price to Await Investigation. Tony Bruno, wanted by the authorities on the suspicion of having- been the perpetrator per-petrator of the explosion in the Standard hotel, 472U West Second South street, which seriously injured his wife and her two children and seventeen other roomers early Friday morning-, was placed under arrest last night at 8 o'clock by Deputy Sheriff Fred Carter at Scofield,- Utah, where he was working in the new Kinney mine as a miner. Bruno immediately on his arrest was removed by automobile from Scofield to the county jail at Price, a distance of 35 miles. He is being held in the county Jail by the sheriff of Carbon county, Thomas F. Jelter, pending the arrival of i Salt .Lake detectives, Clifford Patten and G. M. Hamby, who left Salt Lake last night for Price for tho purpose of identifying iden-tifying Bruno and ascertaining at Scofield Sco-field whether or not the man has been absent from his work during the last three weeks. Advices received by Chief of Police J. Parley "White from Scofield yesterday afternoon by telephone, stating that they was a Tony Bruno working in the mines there, led Chief White to request the man's arrest. The message said that the I man at Scofield answered the description of the Bruno of Salt Lake. In order to make doubly certain that the suspect had not left a man to take his place in the mines and assume his name while he went to Snlt T-ilte and committed com-mitted the crime. They are traveling by automobile and will arrive there in the morning, following fol-lowing which an idriitifirat ion will bf made as both men are familiar with Bruno. Mrs. Mary Bruno, wife of the suspect, had not been notified lust night of the arrest of her husband and cm-ini; to her extremely weak condition it was deemed best not to excite her in any way. Mrs. Bruno, her t wo children, and Tom Rose. S3 years of age. victims of the explosion, are in an extremely precarious condition, and, according to a physician's statement yesterday, may die at any time. Rose, it was reported at the county hospital last night, is suffering from internal in-ternal injuries that may ultimately cause his death. Mrs. Bruno, physicians declare, de-clare, should she fail to die. will be disfigured dis-figured and will probably lose her eyesight, eye-sight, as will her children. |
