Show jj Vaudeville Gossip I 4 . The Orpheum theater manasement is 1 giving its co-operation to the government for the purpose of selling United States war savings and thrift stamps. Recently Martin Beck, managing director of the circuit, sent a letter to all managers in-' in-' structing thern to give their aid in every way to further the sale of these stamps, and as a preliminary move nil Orpheum programmes will contain some of the government literature on the subject. Something like a half a million programmes pro-grammes are distributed weeklv. Haruko Onuki. the attractive young Japanese prima donna, who toured the Orphe i m circu it last season, has tie en engaged en-gaged for a return trip through the western west-ern Orpheum houses. Miss Onuki. who was educated in America and speaks English perfectly, will be remembered as the original singer of "Poor Butterfly " Mary Marble's new act is called "The Sky Bird." "The Sky Bird" is something like a fairy story and very beautifully staged.
