Text works were adopted under seventy-four book tines, some of them in single volumes and others in series of from two to five. Based upon the cost for the previous ; five years, it is estimated that the ex-i ex-i pense during the ensuing rive years j will total approximately f 500.000" In the elementary grades ' the slate sup-: sup-: plies the test books, but ia the high ; schools the students bear the expense.
