Practically all executive power., were stripper from the office of prosi dent of the Utah State Fair association associa-tion and vested in a managing committee com-mittee created fur this purpose, by the amendment of the by laws by directors of the organization at a meeting last night. Officers of the association arc to be elected by the director", and can be removed, "with or without cause," by a vnto of two-thirds of the board, one of the clauses of the now by-laws provides. Members of tho managing committee commit-tee elected last night are: William C. Winder, chairman; D. W. Parratt, Frank J. Hewlett, Walter C. Lewis and Samuel Weitz. A meeting of the committee, com-mittee, which has practically unlimited executive powers, will be held this week to determine what courso to pursue In regard to immediate improvements and renovations at the fair grounds. Bills for labor of $200 already have been presented, though the board has authorized au-thorized no work, it was stated last night. Earl J. Glade was elected secretary at a salary of $10(1 a month, except for September and October, when the salary sal-ary will bo doubled. Tho resignation of' Horace S. Ensign as secretary was made cft'e.ctivo February .. The writ of prohibition, issued Friday bj the supreme court, on affidavit of "William S. Romuev, president, which orders the directors to refrain from ousting Mr. Komnev, will be answered Saturday by the attorney genoral. Be, will deny that, tho board contemplated voting Mr. Komnev from office, as the members knew thev had no power to do more than request his resignation. In a statement yesterday Mr. Rom-ney Rom-ney stated that ho had been in cliargo of the buildings and that much of tho money spent hail been for improvements improve-ments of permanent character. For this reason, he said, these improvements will not have lo be made again this year and as a result not so much money Will bo required for a successful fair as last. year. The president loses Ms power to sign warrants and chocks under the new bv-laws, and this is given to the chairman chair-man of the managing committee.
