Aus-. tria and Hungary over tho question of the payment of the cost of repairing the loss and damage occasioned by the Russian ; invasion of the Carpathians, Gallcia and t the Bukowina. j Hungary demands that each country! shall pay its own share, which, as far as ! Hungary is concerned, is a very small item, as the Russian penetration into the C'arDafhians caused only small damage. On " the other hand, the devastation wrought in the Austrian crown lands ot Calicia. and Biikowina was enormous, amounting to very many millions of kronen. kro-nen. Austria contends that as Galicia and Dukowina ncted as buffer states, thereby protecting Hungary against the Russians, tho entire cost of reparation should be a common charge upon the whole monarchy.
