(Adv.) 0 " 1 IF Yoe Are an Aiiiriffll I IF Yon Are a Believer in the Brother I hood of Man - Mead This Through 1 ' We are at war with the most gigantic, powerful, efficient military machine ever known in the history of the world. , 1-11,11 I We are engaged in a life and death struggle which will decide whether the world shall I be safe for Democracy, and we shall be safe as free citizens m our homes. This terrible war may last several years. Its duration is absolutely dependent upon the manner in which WE get behind the government and do our part m hurim& an me won- derful resources and power of this great free country into the mighty conflict. I Secretary of War Baker says there will be 500,000 of our men hi France m a very few I days, and there will be 1,000,000 more in a very few months. Thousands or tnese men I will offer up the "supreme sacrifice" of their lives for us, that we may live as rree American I citizens. ' 1 I The government will take care of the material comforts of these men. It has delegat- I ed to the Y. M. C. A. and the K. of C. and the Y. M. H. A. the moral and recreation I features. ' jh WHY? Because our Army must be kept clean morally and physically and the men I must have clean, decent entertainment as a relief from the grind and horror of war. I The Y. M. C. A. takes care, in a religious way, of all the Protestant soldiers, being 60 j I per cent of the army; the K. of C, in a religious way, of all the Catholic soldiers, being 35 j I per cent of the army, and both organizations work hand in hand to provide homes and j I clean entertainment and recreation for ALL the soldiers of all creeds and no creed. 5 I This work requires money. 1 1 When the Y. M. C. A. made its call here in Utah, all real Americans, Mormon, CatH- olic, Jew, Presbyterian, Methodist, Episcopalian, Baptist, Congregationalist, and all other I religious beliefs, and no belief, joined in and helped with time and money, because the soldiers sol-diers who are fighting for us will get the benefit and no questions asked. The money was raised in that drive to be handled only by the Y. M. C. A. (In some cities and states the drive was made so that the money would be divided between the Y. M. C. A. and the ; K. of C.) j Now the K. of C. are asking for financial help from the same people, because the I I money, though it will be handled by the K. of C, will be used in conjunction with the k Y. M. C. A. for all the soldiers who are fighting our battles. I Both organizations are co-operating and even then cannot cover the field, it is so large. I Out of this terrible cataclysm will come some good if it results in obliterating the old ! I barriers of religious prejudice and bigotry, due largely to ignorance and a lack of mutual I S understanding. . S Are you going to get in with the great majority of broad-minded, big-hearted, liberStv liberty-loving Americans in the Brotherhood of Man, or stand aloof and isolated with the 1 very small minority when the roll call comes? I Mr. Business Man, you say you are getting too many calls? Do you realize that f I this war keeps up another two years or more your business will probably be gone and you be I in the service? Do you realize that a few dollars-given by you now to help win the war will shorten it appreciably and save the life of many a fine young fellow and bring your 1 own flesh and blood back to you safe and sound? p , We can all give something, according to our means. A committee is endeavoring to I get around to you, but it takes time. Why wait? Why not send in a check for what you 1 feel you can today? The Knights of Columbus first raised $1,000,000 among its own I members. The work has grown so rapidly that $3,000,000 more is now required, and I Utah's quota is set at the low figure of $25,000. I The committee desires to thank publicly those who have already contributed. A list I of contributors with their contributions will be published before the campaign ends. j ARE YOU GOING TO GET BEHIND THE MAN BEHIND THE GUN? I If so, make out your check to Rodney T.
