Show RICHES OF 0PH1R ' DISTRICT UliWi Famous Camp, but Little Talked Of, Is Getting Bigger Every Day. That Senator W. A. Clark's Ophir Hill mine, of the Ophir district, which has already produced many millions lor the owner, is by no means worked out, but is better than ever before, is the view taken by James Worthing, superintendent super-intendent of the Economy Mines company. com-pany. Mr. Worthing was in the city yesterday and spoke with enthusiasm of a district of which little is heard, owing to the fact that most of the companies com-panies operating there are close corporations, corpor-ations, who do not peddle stock for investment in-vestment purposes. Mr. Worthing pointed out that the Ophir Hill mine, owned by Senator Clark, earned last year, according to the official report filed with the secretary secre-tary of state. $429,000 net. He said that in the lower workings there had just been opened up a big body of high-grade high-grade ore, carrying silver, lead and gold, which far surpassed the product taken out last year. Much of the lead ore, he said, carried values as high as 70 per cent. The Ophir Hill is now sending to the Tooele smelter two cars of concentrates concen-trates and one car of shipping ore each day. There is much activity in the district, according to Mr. Worthing, mentioning specifically working of lessees on certain cer-tain portions of the Ophir Hill, the Clift, Hidden Treasure and several other oth-er properties. Good ore is being piled iup and the melting of the winter snows will render transportation conditions favorable fa-vorable for a heavy output. |
