Show 3 KILLED; 1 INJURED IN CROSSING HORROR Men in Automobile Did Not See Train Until Too Late to Avoid Disaster. FAIRFTKLT, Trm.i, Ma.-.-h -S. Three were killed and two injured wben a fast passenger train on the Burlington Burling-ton hit an automobile at the Eighth street grade crossing here this afternoon. after-noon. The dead: C. C. CARL, aged -IS. D. C. WOLLETT, aged 53. EAEL HODGEN, aged 10. The ininred: C. W. Hodgen, aged 38. Dal Hcwell, aged 30. The men were on their way to the country to work and because of buildings build-ings and box cars near the track did not see the approaching train until they were twenty-five feet away. They applied the brakes, but the car slid onto the track and the train hit the rear of the automobile. Young Hodgen was thrown eighty feet and was probably prob-ably dead before he struck the ground. |
