Show EQUALIZATION BOARD TO PASS ON QUARRIES Hearing Is Granted Utah Power & Light Company Before Valuations Valua-tions Are- Fixed. C. M. Brown, tax agent for the Utah Power & Light company, will appear before the state board of equalisation this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at a hearing hear-ing on the valuation of the property and holdings of his company. The Hearing Hear-ing was granted on the request of Mr. Brown, who advised the board that' there were several matters which he desired de-sired to be heard on before the valuation valua-tion on the property of the company was fixed. The equalization board is in a quandary quan-dary as to the exact status and classifications classi-fications of stone quarries, cement plants, lime quarries, salt plants, fire clav and brick manufacturers, all of which have by some been classed as mining. The question arose :again yesterday when J. W. Fox, assessor of Sanpete county, asked the board as to whether he should make an assessment on the machinery and improvements of certain stone quarries in his district. After considerable argument, the matter finally fi-nally was referred to the attorney general gen-eral for an opinion as to the classification classifica-tion of the industries in question. |
